Creative Recycling Writing

GONE
Here I was on the shelf at the supermarket.  A big thing picked me up.  Ouch!  Something is scanning me.  I was put into a bag.  Then I was put in a dark cupboard.
    Three weeks later ...
A little boy asked his  mother if he could have an apple.  He went to the cupboard.  Ouch!  He bit me!  I was dumped in a rubbish bin.  It was cold and dirty.
Next I was thrown into a dump truck. I got put in the dump.  Loads of dirt rained down on me.  I got smaller and smaller and soon I disappeared.  I was gone.

                                    BOOM! POP! BAM!
I was sitting in my house with my other popcorn friends and family.  There was the big shiny trolley.  All my  friends and family came with me and then I was dropped onto a black moving thing.  I heard a series of loud beeps.

I was chucked in a big rumbling car.  I was taken and thrown in a hot spinning place.  It was hot.  It was too hot and I blew up.  BOOM! POP! BAM!  My insides flew up high into space and came back down as asteroids and meteors.  Later I saw my insides being sprinkled with thick sugar.

This was war!  Everyone died except the people.  Who have now thrown me into the rubbish bin.  Two days later I was still sitting in the bin when beep, beep! Everything is pitch black.  Three hours later I was being covered by dirt.

APPLE
I am an apple on a tree.  One second, and then a kid picked me and ooo ouch I got bitten.  It hurt.  Next I went in the bin.  It was cold and scary. I saw a pig aaaah !                        Then ...
I was going "gross." I am in a pigs tummy.  I heard a rumble then ... poop!  Gone and dead.

Number Ninety Three
Once there was a formula 1 racing car.  At the racing track the cars lined up.  Roar!  the cars were off.  One particular car was at half way the driver accidentally crashed into a wall.  This is how it sounded 'Caboommm!!!'  The medical team came quickly to get the driver out.  Why not the car?  The organiser called out of the speaker Ninety Three is out. The family who owned the car slumped out of the stadium.  So now the car was nothing but rubbish.

The family towed number Ninety Three to the dump.  Some of Ninety Three's parts weren't broken.  They got taken out of him ready to be recycled into another car.  The crusher came along and said, " Lookie what I have here!"  So it crushed the formula 1 race car.  Next it went to the melter.  Little bits got put in the dump.  The metal bits got made into tins and that was the end of the racing car.

Tilly the Toyota
There I was waiting for someone to buy me.  My name is Tilly the Toyota.  Early one Saturday morning someone opened my mouth.  It tickled.  They brought me.

They were going back to their house.  Suddenly I got crashed.  My mouth flew up,  my eyes broke into pieces.

Now I am on a moving thing.  I was taken to a very smelly place.  My insides were taken out.  I screamed!  I got taken to a huge thing.  I read a sign that said CAR CRUSHER.
Squash!  I feel as small as a piece of paper.

Once there was a lolly bag in the supermarket. The lolly packet was called Lucy the lolly bag.
Someone bought me.  She ate the lollies

I was put into a smelling plastic thing called a rubbish bin.  Then into a smelly rubbish truck.  The rubbish truck took me to this scary thing with cans, bottles and all sorts of rubbish.  It was called a rubbish dump.  Dirt was raining down on me and I was gone.

Disco Fever

On Friday the school disco was a huge success.  The hall was full of kids grooving to the music.  With a larger number of children because of the wider age range it really felt like an event.  The children danced all night.  The refreshment stall did well too.

Gymnastics Festival

On Thursday 26th of June children from Rooms 4 & 6 attended the Novice gym festival at Omni gym.  I was so proud of the way they performed and the way they behaved.  They really gave their best and the parents who were there were proud too.  Taking photos of children doing gym is not easy when using a phone.  Some of the photos show excellent pictures of toes.

We look smart in our leotards.

Warm up with Mrs Sheldrake.

All smiles.

Great cast off Luka.

Well done Luke.

Good hold Martin.

Trip to The Refuse Station and Landfill

Rooms 4 & 6 had an interesting trip to the Refuse Station and the Landfill.  It was an education for the children and adults.  At the refuse station the children saw recycling in action.  This really illustrated what they have been learning about.  We had two excellent guides that explained about what we were seeing. The best photos I got were on the bus.
Here we are talking with our guide Angela

Angela is explaining about  recycling plastics.

The loader goes into the pit here.

This is the tunnel  the big trucks go into to be loaded up with rubbish to take to the landfill.
Once an article is in the rubbish it stays in the rubbish.  It does not get recycled . It gets buried at the landfill.

Fun in the Computer Room

What a wonderful time we had in the ICT room this afternoon.  We were learning how to remove the background from photos and replace it with another background. Here are the steps we took.
Before lunch I took individual photos of the children.  I loaded them into their photos on the class drive at lunch time.

  • Copy the photo into power point.
  • Go to format.
  • Remove background
  • Insert background
The children created some amazing effects.
From this original photo ...

DISCOVERY CRAFTY KIDS

In Room 4 there is a group of children who are really enjoying wool craft. So far they have been finger knitting and making pompoms. If you have any
Spare balls of wool we would really appreciate it. Double knit is ideal for these activities.
Georgia and Alex persevered to complete their pompoms.  The other children want to make them too.  The smiles on the faces show they are pleased with their success.
A small group of finger knitters.  Children came and went from this group throughout discovery time.  They were really focused on the challenge of it.
