Surprise visitors

Today we had some surprise visitors.  We have to thank Sabine for organising her Dad and his dog Yager to come and demonstrate Yager's skills as a police dog.  Mr Benson brought along fellow dog handler Cam with his Black German Shepherd Yuri. We were all amazed at how friendly Yager was, and how quickly he turned into police dog mode when he had his harness on.
Thank you so much Blair and Cam we all thoroughly enjoyed the display.  We thought the dogs were very friendly but wouldn't like to meet them on the job!

Learning Basic Facts

When helping your child learn the times table there are lots of websites and apps to help them.  If you Google 'Johnny's Maths Page' and go to basic facts there are some excellent interactive activities that reinforce learning in a fun way. Remember to save good sites in favourites.

Classroom Responsibilities

Every class at school has taken on a responsibility to help look after our school.  Room 4 is responsible for keeping our environment tidy.  We are picking up any litter in the playground.  Plenty of hand-washing and use of hand sanitiser follows this activity.
What tidy kiwi's you guys are.  It is so important for children to have pride in their surroundings.

Sharing after discovery

At discovery the classroom can look like a disaster area !  Organised chaos prevails with lots of imaginative creativity and some serious finding out going on.  The conversations that go on are fascinating.  A very important part of discovery is the sharing time after the big clean up.  Groups and individuals enjoy sharing what they have been doing.
Watching and listening.

Wow Max I'm impressed with your poster.

Henry and Alex worked hard finding pictures from the world cup.

This group created a cafe.  The  menu looked pretty good Leo.

Integrating reading and discovery time.

The Pandas reading group had this really cool piece of procedural reading called  A Marshmellow Sandwich.  We decided to follow the procedure at discovery time and see if it worked.  The results were very yummy and enjoyed by all.

The text with instructions to follow.

It looks tempting.  Who will this waitress offer this too?

Rose made short work of her sandwich.
