Discovery chaos

I found these photos and thought I would share them. Discovery can look like chaos but great learning happens. Discovery provides excellent opportunities for team work and using initiative.

A study in concentration

The children in Room 4 enjoy handwriting.  They all try hard to present their work neatly.  From these photos you can see that most children concentrate really hard on what
they are doing.

Discovery Term 2

The children in Room 4 are self starters when it is discovery time.  They plan out what they want to do earlier in the week  and get on with it.  This week we had sandpit adventures, deconstruction, construction painting and making videos.  The children have the most amazing imaginations and get the opportunity to follow their interests.  The relationships that develop, the cooperation and the conversations are wonderful to witness.
All of the children are engaged in what they are doing.

Topic Term 2 - Change in the environment, reduce, reuse and recycle.

This term we are going to be doing a science inquiry about natural change and man made change in the environment.  In weeks 3 & 4 the children will be doing a natural change project.  This will be about things like life cycles, natural cycles like the water cycle, seasons etc. Students will have a variety of information sources to research their topic.  The project will be presented in a flow chart layout.  The children will need to be able to report on them as part of their oral language assessment for this term.

Art Deco Day

Art deco day was a great success.  The children really enjoyed dressing up in their art deco finery.  They looked so cute.  During this topic the children learnt alot and shared their learning at the first assembly this term.  When brainstorming for the sharing I was amazed at how much information they had retained over the break.   The children loved the old fashioned games and riding in the vintage cars.
Daniel and Leo looked very dapper in their art deco clothes.

What a surprise.  Art deco cars and we all got a ride.

Here we all are in our art deco outfits.

Here we are eating our olden day lunches i.e. sandwiches wrapped in paper carried in a paper bag.

Four mates hanging out together.  Looking very cool in those hats guys!

I'm loving those braces and the black and white colour scheme Elliott. Very stylish.  You look very demure Jazzy.

POETRY RECITALS

The children enjoyed sharing their poems with the class.  They were judged on volume, pace, expression, eye contact and effort.  Although some children felt nervous all took part and presented their poem well.

Hunter made up good actions to go with his poem.
